Civil Society Statement on 2016 General Elections

Published By UNNGOF |  March 7, 2016

This collective civil society statement complements many others released by organisations such as the Uganda Law Society, condemning the irregularities during the election and the unfortunate events that followed the election, especially the arrest of key opposition political leaders and threats to many other Ugandans. It responds to many calls made by civil society leaders across the country, for it states a collective position from key local, national and international NGOs, makes some proposals on how the country can move forward and outlines commitments by civil society organisations themselves, all in a 15 point ‘look back’ at the election and forward to a better future for Uganda.
