NGOs are increasingly taking on rigorous work to provide independent feedback on the quality of public service delivery.

PA II: Overall Objective

To offer interactive reflection spaces for the effective coordination of collective policy engagement by NGOs, on cross-cutting social, economic and political issues of interest to NGOs and relevant to Uganda's development, as well as for long-term perspective planning.

Brief Description

This programme area reflects the NGO Forum's experience in mobilising, coordinating and participating in NGO policy advocacy and engagements in key policy processes, such as the PEAP, the National Development Plan (NDP), Plan for Modernization of Agriculture (PMA), the budget process and other processes of national importance. The Forum's value lies in bringing together NGOs to participate in multi-stakeholder and multi-sectoral policy processes, to elicit the value of collective organising and action, and inspire activism and solidarity. In consolidating NGO participation in policy spaces, including the invited policy spaces mentioned above, we shall focus on creating platforms and spaces for reflection, critical review and appraisal of collective NGO positions on a range of social, economic, political and other issues of interest to NGOs and of consequence to the nation, so that NGO views, knowledge and perspectives are better harnessed to contribute to better governance and development.
