The Trainer of Trainers and Volunteer Manuals

The trainers and volunteers are key players in the assessment processes and therefore there is need for them to follow the same procedure/guidelines so that there is no disparity in the process. To effect that; manuals are designed to guide the trainers and volunteers on how to play their roles.

2011 Annual learning Assessment Tests and the Survey Booklets:

Uwezo develops on an annual basis, four samples of simple tests, all at the same level of difficulty which are used to assess children's numeracy and literacy .In a household with more than one child the samples are interchangeably used. For recording purposes, Uwezo also produces survey booklets where the volunteers enter the data accordingly.

Tests As Stories:

During the assessment the children are given a simple P.2 test in English and maths to establish their competencies and the volunteers advise the parents encourage their children to read. To initiate action in improving the children's learning at the household, Uwezo produces 'tests as stories' derived from concepts in the actual tests used to assess the children.
