Over 5000 Celebrate East Africa at 4th National CSO Fair

Published By UNNGOF |  July 8, 2014

On the 26 and 27 June, all roads led to Africana Hotel in Kampala. The Peoples’ Space at Africana was a beehive of activity. We had over 3000 people come through the exhibition stalls and 2,700 participate in parallel sessions convened by 22 partners on various topics. We made over 5 million social media impressions on Twitter and Face Book.

This year’s theme – Celebrating our East African Citizenship – helped us to appreciate that we are part of a larger regional block that presents opportunities for citizens of Uganda in many ways. The more we participate in building the region called East Africa the better for all East Africans.

We call on all our partners to mark their dairies in June 2015 we shall be at it again.

We commend the Speaker of the East African Legislative Assembly, Her Right Honorable Margaret Zziwa, The Minister of Internal Affairs, Hon. Gen. Aronda Nyakirima, The Minister of State for East African Affairs, Hon. Shem Bagaine, the Chair of the Local Development Partners’ Group and World Bank Country Manager, Mr. Ahmadou Moustapha Ndiaye, Chair of the NGO Registration Board, Ambassador William Gabriel Kangwagye, for accepting our invitation and gracing the opening ceremony and the touring of the exhibition;

In a special way, we thank our private sector partner – the Managing Director of KCB, Uganda and his staff for contributing to the costs of supporting the 4th CSO Fair and also partnering with us in launching the NAFASI Multipurpose Cooperative Society for Civil Society that will build the economic security for staff of civil society across the country.

We express our appreciation for the coordination and sponsorship role played all organizations that convened sessions, exhibited their work and contributed variously to a successful 4th Edition of the CSO Fair. We acknowledge the core financial support of ICCO, World Vision, KCB, DGF through support to UNNGOF and most of all the 5,200 persons including school children who attended the two day event; touring the stalls and participating in the 22 thematic parallel sessions and also the 5 million global and local social media persons that participated online
