Join the World Action Fund Campaign to Support PWDs in West Nile

Published By UNNGOF |  June 22, 2021

Our member, World Action Fund, is running a campaign to mobilise logistical support towards the distribution of mobility appliances in West Nile – Uganda.

The campaign follows the growing need for over 6,000 wheelchairs in West Nile i.e. Arua, Koboko, Maracha, Terego, Madi Okollo, Nebbi, Zombo & Packwach districts.

Every year, the organisation, in partnership with its donor, ships in about 700 wheelchairs and tricycles.
The current waiting list of assessed children and adults who need wheelchairs are over 5200. With only 155 pieces of equipment ready for distribution in June 2021, your support is more urgent than ever.

To execute the project, World Action Fund, therefore, seeks to raise $3,751 (approximately 13,316,050 Uganda Shillings). The additional funds are needed to cover the costs of collection, storage and transportation.

This campaign is a big win-win because it saves local governments in West Nile the high cost of buying wheelchairs and trikes, while giving mobility and a chance at a better life to impoverished disabled Ugandans.

World Action Fund has solid experience and established networks needed to collect, transport, and deliver the wheelchairs to individuals in Uganda, with trained volunteers in basic and pediatric wheelchair and tricycle management.
