UN Resident Coordinator Visits UNNGOF
On 3rd February 2022, we were delighted to host Ms Susan Namondo Ngongi, UN Resident Coordinator to Uganda for a courtesy visit to our offices in Kabalagala.
The meeting was attended by Dr Moses Isooba, UNNGOF E.D., Ronald Matanda, UNNGOF Head of Programmes, Simon Peter Nsereko, an Economist with the U.N Resident Coordinator’s Office and Theresa Tumwesigye, Communication & Knowledge Management Officer.
The discussion was a deep dive into the state of Uganda’s civil society and the work of UNNGOF, our commitment to the SDG localisation agenda, and our role as an interlocutor between the civil society and the state.
The meeting also shone a light on opportunities for Civil Society Organisations to harness their power of working closely with communities and leverage it in interactions with the government. The opportunity to engage and work with the government of Uganda on mutual accountability is another avenue for the state and civil society to work together. Moreover, this would help debunk the negative narrative about civil society as entities working against the state.
Dr Isooba appreciated the team for the visit. The visit was concluded with the commitment from both parties to work closely for the common good.
