UNNGOF Prepares for Aga Khan Foundation Learning Assessment in Arua

From the 19th -21st January 2016, The Uganda National NGO Forum, together with Uwezo Uganda and A-C-O-R-D Arua organized a training of volunteers for the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) Learning Assessment at Ediofe Youth Center. The 20 trained volunteers were selected from 10 villages (Idioa, Egara B, Academy, Ayiforo, Mvara Central, Anori, Adovu, Oli D, Adravu and Ayelembe) in which the assessment would be conducted.  Attended by over 20 participants, the training aimed at equipping volunteers with the necessary skills and knowledge to conduct the AKF assessment.

Youth & Civic Space - Highlights of the EU-CSO Structured Dialogue

The European Union Delegation to Uganda, in partnership with the Uganda National NGO Forum held a structured dialogue on 14th January 2015, at Hotel Africana, Kampala. The dialogue aimed at discussing issues around youth and their civic duty in the socio-economic transformation of their society. The meeting brought together over 50 participants from the civil society fraternity, development partners and the academia.

CSOs 2016 New Year's Message - Uganda at Crossroads!

A press conference was held today, 11th January 2016 at the Uganda National NGO Forum offices to convey the 2016 Civil Society New Year message. Representatives of the sector, under the leadership of UNNGOF described Uganda as being at cross roads, and called for a recreation of opportunity amidst threats to a peaceful and prosperous Uganda.

The Right to a Nationality in the East African Community

Teso Region Launches the National and Regional Manifestos Amidst Excitement

On Friday 4th December 2015, the Teso region launched the 2016-2021 Citizens’ Manifesto and the Teso Regional Manifesto at Kumi Hotel, Kumi District amidst rejuvenated hopes and excitement. This excitement was derived from the appreciation of the citizen’s goals, aspirations and commitments embodied in the two Manifestos. From the discussion, it was unanimous that if realized, the demands in the Manifestos would lead to the full realization a ‘prosperous and peaceful Uganda with happy people’.

“In Africa one who steals is a thief!” John Githongo speaks on African value systems to curb corruption

“There is no clear African language translation for the word corruption,” said John Githongo, “In Africa, one who steals is a thief!” These were the shared sentiments of about 85 members that included MPs from the East African Legislative Assembly, Pan African Parliament, African Parliamentarians Network Against Corruption, and the members of the National Legislature, prominent CSOs and faith based organisations, as well as academics participating in a forum for CSOs and Parliamentarians at the Fairview Hotel in Nairobi on 8-9 December, 2015, to mark the International Anti-Corruption Day.

#ACC2015 - Citizens Unite to Condemn Vote Buying & Selling

The fifth National Anti-Corruption Convention held on 7th December 2015 at Hotel Africana, Kampala, Uganda, attracted over 900 citizens from Government, Non Governmental Organizations, Academia, Faith Based Organizations, Youth, Development Partners, Government Agencies, Members of Parliament and Private Sector. The event was anchored on the theme” My Vote is priceless…Say No Vote Buying and Selling to rally all citizens to stand firm against all forms of electoral corruption.
