Anti-Corruption Caravan Returns Amidst Lots of Excitement!

The Anti – Corruption Caravan of Action Aid International Uganda (AAIU) was today 20th November 2015 welcomed back from its 10 day western leg at the AAIU offices in Kansanga. The four car caravan, escorted by a Police Patrol car and officers who provided security throughout the whole trip, was welcomed by the Head of the Financial Intelligence Authority, civil society leaders, media, and staff of AAIU.

Many of us take the issue of staff retreats and team building exercises at face value, we consider them as part of the events of the year, part of our annual work plans. Very rarely do we view them as deliberate efforts on the part of our employers to motivate us; to help us refresh minds that have been bogged down with fatigue; to rejuvenate bodies long since exhausted; to allow for some ordered rest and relaxation to bring out the best in us and keep 'burn out' at bay. And even more worryingly, very rarely do we actually take time to enjoy every facet of these retreats.

CEON-U Blows Whistle on Election Violence

The Citizens’ Election Observers Network – Uganda (CEON-Uganda) is a consortium of 18  civil society organizations committed to conducting a unified, comprehensive and effective domestic election observation mission for the 2016 general elections. The consortium’s intervention is guided by the overarching need to promote transparency, accountability and integrity, as well as increase citizen participation in Uganda’s electoral processes.

“Nothing for us without us”, African Union Agenda 2063 Youth Summit

From 29th October to 1st November 2015, over 300 youth across Africa, including Michael Aboneka of Uganda National NGO Forum, gathered at the African Union (AU) Headquarters to deliberate on youth demands in the implementation of Agenda 2063 as well as celebrate the Africa Youth Day.  All the member state countries were represented in the AU-Model simulations where four committees on Youth, gender, Health and Education deliberated on the problems affecting Africa and the possible solutions to deal with the same.
