On 10th March 2016, UNNGOF was privileged to attend the launch of the Equal Opportunities Commission launch of their new Logo, toff free line and 100 days action plan at their offices in Bugolobi. This event was presided over by the Minister of State for the Elderly and Disabled, Hon Sulaiman Madada who commended what he termed the launch of a law and a help line which are important to effectively delivering to the marginalized.

For some time now, since after elections, there have been mixed reactions from the public especially on the outcomes of the elections and the post election management processes especially by the state. We have had so many questions especially regarding the Electoral processes which was marred with several illegalities which most of them go root to undermining the right to vote by the citizens.

On 5th February 2016, civil society representatives from UYONET and Uganda National NGO Forum, and the Chief of the Defense Forces, General Katumba Wamala representing the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces symbolically lit a peace torch on the theme ‘#Peace – No Substitute! UPDF and the Youth for Peaceful Elections’. This collaboration with UPDF comes in the wake of several initiatives by civil society calling for peaceful elections come Thursday 18th February 2016.

In a bid to consolidate and work better to advocate for peace during the 2016 Elections, Civil Society organizations under the auspices of the Uganda National NGO Forum launched the ‘Let Peace Prevail’ campaign on the 4th February 2016 at Royal Suites Hotel Bugolobi. This was at the NGO leaders’ scenario building meeting on the 2016 General elections.
