Ms. Ritah Nansereko

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.

On June 25th 2021, Uganda's Civil Society sector lost a passionate and intelligent leader, Ms Ritah Nansereko.

A proficient Human Rights advocate, Ritah served as the Executive Director of African Women and Youth Action for Development (AWYAD), our member organisation. She was also Co-chair for Charter4Change and a member of the Steering Committee for the Humanitarian Platform for Local and National Humanitarian Actors in Uganda that is hosted by the Uganda National NGO Forum.

Ritah was a strong policy advocate in the Humanitarian Sector who championed the rights of refugees.

Ritah was a #RealLifeHero and an inspiration for us all. Her powerful legacy will continue to inspire many others.

Rest in Peace, Ritah. We will remember your generosity and great sense of humour.

As is a tale, so is a life: Not how long it is, but how good it is, is what matters. – Seneca
