As such, we shine a light on those who have left us to suicide and to their families and friends. We also shine a light on those who feal empty, lost, and hopeless. As we empathize with loved ones, it is important to educate ourselves on suicide.

The 2024 annual learning and reflection meeting was hosted by the Uganda National NGO Forum in partnership with the Giving for Change (GfC) Alliance. Held from August 11th to 17th at the Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort & Spa in Kigo, the event was centered around the theme: “Connecting, Supporting, and Influencing Community Philanthropy in a Context of Shrinking Civic Space.”

Background: Corporate Social Investment (CSI) is a self-regulating business model that helps a company be socially accountable to itself, its stakeholders, and the public. By practising CSI, companies can be conscious of the kind of impact they are having on all aspects of society, including economic, social, and environmental. To engage in CSI means that, in the ordinary course of business, a company is operating in ways that enhance society and the environment instead of contributing negatively to them.

Welcome to the first issue of the CSO-SDGs Newsletter. The newsletter is a space where the work of Civil Society actors
contributing to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is profiled and popularized.

It is also a space for information sharing on different issues pertaining to the achievement of SDGs at National and global level. We would like to therefore invite you to read our first issue. It profiles work from members of the SDG Core Reference Group from January to December 2022.

The re-introduction of multiparty politics in Uganda has witnessed an increase in violent and non-violent conflicts to a greater or lesser degree before, during and after Uganda’s general elections. The pattern and character of the conflicts are symptomatic of deep-routed ethnic and partisan-related hostilities that lie latent and mainly explode into violent conflicts before, during or after elections. The population and the most affected are youth and women who form a 75% majority population.

This report was researched and compiled by Muyi Consulting Group for the Uganda National NGO Forum and the Africa Philanthropy Network. It forms part of the body of work of the Giving for Change alliance.
