UNNGOF Holds 20th General Assembly

Published By UNNGOF |  October 5, 2022

As part of strengthening institutional governance and accountability, UNNGOF holds a General Assembly every year.

Article VII of the UNNGOF Constitution states “The General Assembly shall be the supreme authority of the Uganda National NGO Forum, and shall meet annually at a time and place as shall be decided upon by the UNNGOF Board”.

In accordance with our constitution, a hybrid assembly was held on Thursday 28th April 2022 with the physical participation of 8 Board Members, Executive Director, Legal Counsel, and the Auditor, and 119 members participated virtually via the Zoom platform.

As the top policy forum and decision-making organ of the organization, the AGM reviews the progress on UNNGOF mandate and priorities, and receives program and financial reports for approval.

To allow maximum inclusion, the General Assembly passed a resolution to allow non-paid up members effectively participate in the annual general meeting. Participants then received an update on the opportunities and challenges the NGO sector is facing; considered and approved the institutional 2021 narrative and financial reports.

The 20th Assembly was also elective, and Mr. Feni Twaib, Chief Executive Officer of the West Nile Regional Civil Society Network (WECISNET) was elected as the representative of District NGO Networks for a three-year term. Mr. Paul Mulindwa, Executive Director of Kitara Civil Society Organizations’ Network (KCSON), was elected as the Board Treasurer following the retirement of Mr. Dickens Ogwal – Executive Director of Lira NGO Forum.

As of 28th April 2022, the UNNGOF Executive Committee is constituted as follows:

  • Chairperson – Ms. Margaret Sekaggya
  • Vice Chairperson – Mr. Ryan Duly
  • Treasurer – Mr. Paul Mulindwa

The assembly is a convention that brings a diversity of minds and ideas together as members of the sharing and reflection platform unite to advance the mandate of UNNGOF and the broader civil society sector.

The UNNGOF Board and Secretariat are grateful to all the members that participated in the 20th Annual General Meeting. We pledge our total commitment to the vision and mission of the Uganda National NGO Forum.
