UNNGOF Holds 21st General Assembly!
As part of our continuous commitment to strengthening accountability and institutional governance, UNNGOF members convene yearly for a General Assembly. The Assembly is the supreme authority of the Uganda National NGO Forum.
UNNGOF held a hybrid 21st Annual General Meeting on Thursday, 27th April 2023, with the physical participation of members at Hotel Africana and others participating virtually via the ZOOM platform.
As the organisation’s top policy forum and decision-making organ, the AGM reviewed the progress on UNNGOF mandate and priorities and received programme and financial reports for approval. Participants then received an update on the opportunities and challenges the NGO sector is facing; considered and approved the institutional 2021 narrative and financial reports.
The 21st Assembly was also elective, and Dr Edward Simiyu, Country Director, Mercy Corps Uganda, was elected as the representative of International NGOs and Vice Chairperson of the Board. Hajji Sulaiman Walugendo Kyesa, Executive Director of Uganda Muslim Rural Development Association, was elected to represent Faith-Based Organisations.
As of 27th April 2023, the UNNGOF Executive Committee is constituted as follows:
- Chairperson – Ms Margaret Sekaggya
- Vice Chairperson – Dr Edward Simiyu
- Treasurer – Mr Paul Mulindwa
The Assembly brought diverse minds and ideas together as members and partners of the sharing and reflection platform to advance the mandate of UNNGOF and the broader civil society sector.
The UNNGOF Board and Secretariat are grateful to all the members that participated in the 21st Annual General Meeting. We pledge continued commitment to the vision and mission of the Uganda National NGO Forum.
