As part of strengthening governance and accountability, Uganda National NGO Forum convened its 19th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday 29th July 2021.
The General Assembly of the Uganda National NGO Forum is the top policy forum and decision making organ of the organization. The AGM meets annually to review the progress on UNNGOF priorities, receive program and financial reports for approval.
Convened virtually, the 19th AGM was elective, bringing on Board Hon. Margaret Ssekagya (The Human Rights Centre Uganda) to represent National NGOs, Mr. Paul Mulindwa (Kitara Civil Society Network) to represent District Networks and Ms. Emily Drani as an Independent Board Member.
Following the full constitution of the Board, the General Assembly unanimously endorsed Hon. Margaret Sekaggya as the Chairperson for the Uganda National NGO Forum Board. Ms. Sekaggya has exceptional transformative leadership experience which she has in the different portfolios she has held over the years.
While addressing the general assembly, Margaret appreciated the members for entrusting her with this noble responsibility and called upon CSO leaders to strengthen collective engagement and build synergies both at national and sub-national levels to create sustainable impact. She further emphasized the need to embrace constructive engagement as a key pillar for nation-building.
