Governance & Service Delivery; Bridging the Gap between Theory and Practice.

In partnership with several CSOs including UNNGOF and ACODE, Uganda Management Institute organized the International Conference on Governance & Service Delivery in Developing Economies from 24th – 28th August 2015 at Imperial Royale Hotel.
The conference was opened by the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister of Uganda, Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda who urged participants to focus on developing practical strategies to improve governance processes, curb corruption and improving service delivery. Dr. Ruhakana thanked all the partners of this conference for their confidence and recognition of Uganda’s efforts in spearheading global efforts in the areas of governance and service delivery. He also assured the participants of Government commitment to supporting the managerial solutions to the governance and service delivery challenges that will be recommended at the end of the conference.
H.E Quett Ketumile Joni Masire – Former President of Botswana also graced the event and shared his success story in his keynote presentation. Prof. Sylvain Boko, the Principal Regional Advisor, UN Economic Commission for Africa was also a speaker at the conference.

It was well attended by leaders, policy makers, and scholars from over 50 countries including; Ministers, Ambassadors, Permanent Secretaries, Professors, Chancellors, Chief Administrative Officers and many other distinguished guests.
The main purpose of the conference was to bridge the gap between academicians, policy makers and implementers, and explore new approaches to governance and service delivery. The challenges of governance, accountability and progress in the public sector continue to grow with public sector managers continuously challenged to make rational choices that represent their relationship with the publics they serve.
