UNNGOF Gets New Board of Directors
In a monumental step towards enhancing its governance, UNNGOF convened her 22nd General Assembly on the 18th April 2024, at Hotel Africana.
The assembly, conducted in hybrid format accommodating both physical attendance and virtual participation via Zoom, provided an opportunity for the members to reflect on the achievements of 2023 and chart strategic directions for 2024.
One of the key highlights of this assembly was the establishment of the Board of Directors, following the election of the representatives for National NGOs and the District NGO Networks constituencies who now form the core leadership team.
The newly constituted board comprises distinguished individuals dedicated to advancing the organization’s mission:
- Mr. Xavier Ejoyi (ActionAid International Uganda) – Chairperson
- Ms. Barbra Babweteera (Cross-Cultural Foundation of Uganda) – Vice Chairperson
- Mr. Paul Mulindwa (Kitara Civil Society Organizations Network) – Treasurer
- Mr. James Love (Mercy Corps) – Board Member
- Mr. Fen Twaib (West Nile Regional Civil Society Network) – Board Member
- Hajji Sulaiman Walugendo Kyesa (Uganda Muslim Rural Development Association) – Board member
- Ms. Margaret Nakato (Katosi Women Development Trust) – Board Member
- Dr. Mwalimu Musheshe – Independent Board Member
- Dr. Akim Okuni – Independent Board Member
- Ms. Eva Magambo (Uganda National Association of Community and Occupational Health) – Board Member
- Dr. Moses Isooba – Board Secretary, Ex-Officio
While welcoming the new Board members, Ms. Margaret Sekaggya, UNNGOF Chairperson Emeritus, emphasized the significance of leadership transition for NGO Networks in ensuring organizational stability. She commended the dedication of the UNNGOF secretariat for facilitating the smooth functioning of the Board and urged continued collaboration towards achieving collective goals.
With this dynamic new board in place, UNNGOF is prepared to navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead, reaffirming its commitment to empowering civil society for sustainable development.
