Uganda Hosts the 2025 Change the Game Alliance Meeting
Reflecting on the Change the Game Academy Alliance Meeting
From 17th to 20th February 2025, Uganda National NGO Forum had the privilege of hosting over 40 participants from Sri Lanka, India, Indonesia, Colombia, Brazil, South Africa, The Gambia, Burkina Faso, Tanzania, Kenya, Cambodia, Nepal, Ethiopia, Ghana, The Netherlands, and Uganda for an inspiring gathering of the Change the Game Academy Alliance. This convening provided a dynamic space for participants to exchange insights, celebrate progress, and strengthen our collective impact in advancing locally led development.
Since 2015, Change the Game Academy has been equipping grassroots organizations with the knowledge, skills, and networks they need to mobilize local resources and advocate for sustainable change. Our training, coaching, and e-learning resources are designed to empower changemakers worldwide to lead their own development journeys.
Key Learnings from the Alliance Meeting
As we reflected on our journey and explored new ways to amplify our impact, several key takeaways stood out:
🔹 Local fundraising works – When communities take the lead, change is not only possible but deeply rooted. We have seen first-hand how organizations that mobilize local resources become more sustainable and resilient.
🔹 Collaboration is powerful – Working as a collective amplifies our efforts, enabling us to drive sustainable change together. The power of partnerships and shared learning strengthens our ability to create long-term impact.
🔹 We are changemakers – Beyond gaining skills, our participants become part of a movement that shifts power and redefines development. They are not just fundraisers or advocates; they are leaders driving transformation in their communities.
🔹 Context matters – Training must be relevant and accessible. That’s why our programs are delivered in multiple languages and tailored to specific societal contexts, ensuring they have a real and lasting impact.
🔹 A movement, not just a program – Over the past decade, more than 4,000 organizations have completed our classroom training, implementing local fundraising and advocacy activities in their communities. Through our online modules, over 25,000 learners have gained the skills needed to sustain their work. This is more than a training initiative—it’s a growing global community of changemakers who continue to support and inspire each other beyond the classroom.
What Sets Change the Game Academy Apart?
We believe in #ShiftingPower. Our approach prioritizes local ownership, ensuring that organizations can mobilize their own resources, build resilience, and drive the change they envision—on their own terms. We are committed to creating a future where communities are self-reliant, empowered, and leading their own development agendas.
The Journey Continues
The momentum from this year’s meeting does not end here. As we move forward, we will continue to learn, innovate, and grow together, strengthening our collective ability to transform communities through local resource mobilization and advocacy.
