UNNGOF Successfully Holds the 22nd General Assembly
The Uganda National NGO Forum successfully convened her 22nd General Assembly(hybrid) on the 18th of April 2024, marking a significant milestone in the organisation’s journey. Under the theme of “Building Community Agency and Advancing Accountability,” the assembly served as a platform to reflect on the achievements and challenges of the past year while charting a course for continued progress and collaboration.
Led by the Chairperson – Board of Directors, Ms. Margaret Ssekaggya, the assembly began with the presentation of the 2023 Annual Program Statement, which outlined the organisation’s strategic priorities and highlighted its commitment to empowering communities, advocating for social justice, and fostering development across Uganda. Throughout 2023, UNNGOF demonstrated resilience and innovation in the face of various challenges, including a shifting donor funding landscape and regulatory hurdles.
A key highlight of the assembly was the recognition of UNNGOF’s success in expanding its membership, with 24 new members registered during the year, bringing the total to 750 member organisations representing diverse constituencies across the country. This growth underscored the organisation’s continued relevance and impact in the NGO sector.

The assembly also provided an opportunity to acknowledge the dedication and hard work of the UNNGOF staff, whose commitment and efforts were instrumental in driving the organization’s success. Additionally, the collaborative spirit and support of various stakeholders, including development partners, government agencies, NGOs/CSOs, the private sector, and citizens, were recognized for their role in achieving the milestones of 2023.
Looking ahead to 2024, UNNGOF reaffirmed its commitment to delivering on its strategic priorities, including capacity strengthening of NGOs, NGO self-regulation,. promoting local philanthropy, and advocating for responsive public institutions. UNNGOF emphasised the importance of sustaining partnerships across sectors and deepening community engagement to amplify its impact and drive sustainable change.
With a focus on collaboration, innovation, and community empowerment, UNNGOF is poised to continue its vital role in driving positive change and fostering a vibrant civil society sector in the years to come.
