17th – 21st April 2023 was not only a week for training UNNGOF members, but also an opportunity for the Secretariat to bond with them and understand their contexts better.

UNNGOF, together with the Change the Game Academy in Uganda equipped the participants with skills in Local Fund Raising and Mobilising Support that enabled them to appreciate and embrace the value of local philanthropy.

Participants were pleased with the course content shared and greatly inspired to appreciate the vast local resources around them which can be tapped to ensure collective action towards their community needs.

This training was an eye opener to me, most of us tend to focus on writing proposals to submit internationally and yet we are sitting on local resources that could help us.” – Mr. Eboku Alex, World Action Fund.

We are now seeing the value of associating with UNNGOF. By doing this, you are giving back to us. I also appreciate the delivery method you chose, it was highly participatory and enabled us not only to think with you but also practice as we learn.” – Mr. Peter Bogere, Uganda Project Implementation and Management Center (UPIMAC).

One of the things I have appreciated from this training is the power of appreciation, and this applies to everyone who actually contributes to our causes or projects. I have learnt that we sometimes get support from local communities but never appreciate them, and yet appreciating adds to acceptability and ownership of project,” says Mr. Friday Moses, Save for Health Uganda.

This training enabled UNNGOF to attract more actors into the #Changemakers pool i.e. twenty-eight certified in Local Fund Raising while twenty-seven in Mobilising Support. these are critical in promoting a positive narrative around local philanthropy in their different localities.
