24th February 2022 was a landmark day for Uganda’s civil society sector which saw the launch of Kigezi Civil Society Forum (KICSOF) in Kabale District at Cepha's Inn.

KICSOF envisions a region where CSOs influence sustainable development agenda with the mission of promoting CSOs engagement in advancing sustainable development through advocacy and information sharing in Kigezi region.

Following the 19th Annual General Assembly of the Uganda National NGO Forum (UNNGOF), held on 29th July 2021, members unanimously elected Ms. Margaret Sekaggya as the new chairperson of the Forum.

Margaret brings to the UNNGOF exceptional transformative leadership experience which she has gained over several years of leadership in different critical positions.

As part of membership servicing, we visited our member Danish Refugee Council(DRC) yesterday and had an interaction with the Country Director, Head of Support Services and the Human Resource Director. 

On 19th March 2021, UNNGOF joined other CSO actors under the Coalition on Oil and Gas for a meeting to vote for proxies to EITI Multi-Stakeholder Group for Uganda. Uganda was admitted into the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) in August 2020 by the EITI International Secretariat making it the 54th member country globally, and 26th African country to join the initiative.

On 12^th September 2017, a delegation from the African Union Advisory Board on Corruption met with Mr. Richard Ssewakiryanga the Presiding Officer Economic Social Cultural Council who is also the Executive Director, Uganda National NGO Forum to get acquainted with CSO anti-corruption efforts in Uganda. Following the recently unveiled Budget Strategy FY 2018/2019 under the theme “Industrialization for job creation and shared prosperity” at the National Budget Consultative Conference, Civil Society Organizations under the Civil Society Budget Advocacy Group (CSBAG) and the Uganda National NGO Forum on 11^th September 2017 convened at the UNNGOF Offices for a media briefing on the CSO perspectives on the Budget strategy. The emergence of developing economies in the 21^st century in Africa and especially sub Saharan Africa has been matched with the growing rise in the level of inequality among populations, with some societies exhibiting wide economic gaps between the rich and the poor. The rising inequalities levels remain a puzzle for many development practitioners.

Local Government leaders have been challenged to fast-truck the establishment and operationalization of the NGO Monitoring committees to ensure state and non- state actors relate in a more constructive and peaceful way. On 16^th August 2017 at Hotel Africana, Uganda National NGO Forum under the auspices of the African Union Economic Social and Cultural Council (AU-ECOSOCC) Uganda Chapter convened a meeting to reflect on how CSOs in Uganda can meaningfully influence the African Union through ECOSOCC. On 4^th July 2017, the European Delegation in Uganda in partnership with the Uganda National NGO Forum held an EU-CSO structured dialogue on the Uganda Refugee Situation and Civil Society Response. The dialogue attracted 50 participants from both international and national NGOs, member states of European Union in Uganda and other development partners.
